Balasore, May 9: After struggling for days, a minor rape victim who had delivered a baby May 4 at district headquarters hospital here died at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack Saturday morning, leaving behind her baby. Both were in critical condition.
Surprisingly, no one has been arrested in connection with the crime meted out on the orphaned minor girl. Locals have raised questions over future of the baby and demanded a high level probe into the crime.
The girl was rescued by members of Childline December 24, 2014 when she was six-month pregnant. She was accommodated at Bapuji Seva Sadan at Mitrapur.
The girl delivered a baby at the DHH May 4. However, the condition of the girl and her baby became critical and they were shifted to Cuttack.
According to Childline sources, the girl was staying in a relative’s house when someone raped her at night. She did not know who committed the crime.
