Chhatrapur: Police Tuesday morning recovered a decomposed body of a minor boy from a bush in the middle of Bahmaniapalli and Narasinghpur villages of Bhikaripalli panchayat under this police limits in Ganjam district.
The police identified the deceased as Bhiku Sethy (13), son of Kunu Sethy of Gurunthi village under Berhampur Sadar police limits. Family members alleged that Bhiku had been murdered; and the circumstantial evidence also indicated it to be a murder case.
According to the complaint registered by Ranji’ deceased’s mother with Nimakhandi outpost, Bhiku was cycling in his village December 6. Later he had gone with Lingaraj Sethy of Brahmaniapalli village under Chhatrapur police limits, who was a relative of Bhiku’s neighbor. When Bhiku never returned home even after the evening, Bhiku’s family members asked Lingaraj about the former’s whereabouts. Lingaraj said he had let Bhiku go home much earlier. Acting on the missing report of Bhiku’s family, the police registered a case.
Locals and some morning walkers first spotted the body and informed Chhatrapur police station. Worried family members also reached the spot and identified the body as that of Bhiku.
SDPO Ashok Kumar Mohanty, Berhampur sadar police station IIC S S Mohapatra, second officer K K satpathy, Chhatrapur police station IIC Priyas ranjan Chhotray, Nimakhandi outpost ASI Narayan Swain along with a scientific team reached the spot, seized the body and sent it to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
The cause of the death is yet to be ascertained, the police have said the exact cause will only be known after arrival of post-mortem report.
Meanwhile, police have zeroed in on Lingaraj as he has been absconding.
