Tangi: A spree of vandalising incidents took place here late Saturday night during which miscreants damaged 11 trucks and looted cash from the drivers near Nimeisapur petrol pump under Tangi police limits in Cuttack district.
Sources stated that the incident occurred due to past enmity between local people and the truck drivers. The trucks were parked near the petrol pump when some miscreants arrived at the spot wielding sharp weapons. They brandished their weapons and took away cash worth Rs 5,00,000 from the drivers and the helpers of the trucks.
A few of the drivers tried to resist the unidentified miscreants. However, in the process they suffered injuries as the hooligans attacked them with sharp weapons.
Later, the drivers and owners lodged complaints with the Tangi police station. The police have initiated a probe into the incident. However, so far no arrests have taken place.
