Cuttack, Dec 4: The Vigilance department Thursday said former Orissa DGP Prakash Mishra may be called for an appearance before Vigilance DSP M Radhakrishna after December 23.
According to Vigilance director, KB Singh, his department, keeping in view Mishra’s engagement as special secretary at Union Ministry of Home Affairs, allowed the former DGP an exemption on appearing at the directorate here.
“A decision to ask Mishra to appear before the directorate will be taken soon”, said Singh. Mishra Wednesday cited the current parliament session and his engagement as the reason for not being able to appear before the Vigilance directorate here. The former DGP said he holds an important and responsible post and ignoring his present duty to appear before the directorate would not be possible presently.
The Assembly polls in Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir too were cited as reasons by Mishra for not being able to appear before the Vigilance directorate. The former DGP had urged the High Court to consider his petition regarding his appearance before the Vigilance DSP December 4.
The Vigilance had issued summons to Mishra asking him to appear before it December 4 in connection with irregularities under Orissa Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC) when he was the CMD of the corporation.
