Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Crime Branch Inspector General of Police Sarthak Sarangi said Monday that the agency has recorded the statements of former bureaucrats VK Pandian, Rajesh Verma and Manoj Mishra in connection with the missing CMO files. The CB has established a crucial link in its investigation into the disappearance of two sensitive inquiry reports from the CMO, with Pandian confirming that the reports had indeed reached the CMO. “The three former bureaucrats accepted that the CMO had received the reports. But they have no idea about the present whereabouts of the files.,” Sarangi said. The two missing reports are the Justice AS Naidu Commission report on the 2008 killing of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and the subsequent Kandhamal violence, and the RDC inquiry report into the 2016 SUM Hospital fire tragedy in Bhubaneswar. The latest development has shifted the focus of the probe to the custody of the files inside the CMO and the officials who may have subsequently handled them
