Bhubaneswar: Mancheswar police recovered a youth’s body that was packed in a gunny bag and dumped in a drain near the Kuakhai river bed on the outskirts of Capital town here Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Bhadra. Preliminary police probe revealed, he was a vegetable vendor in the city.
The matter came to the fore after passersby spotted the body floating in the drain with foul smell emanating and immediately informed the police.
On reaching the spot, Mancheswar police started investigation and identified the body as that of Rajesh Bhadra, who had been missing for last five days. His family members had registered a missing report at the police station.
The police along with fire service personnel recovered the body and sent if for autopsy.
While the cause of the death is yet to be ascertained, the police are awaiting post mortem report to further the investigation. When contacted, police said that a further probe was on to ascertain the exact cause of the death of the person.
