Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of Bharatiya Janata Party plans to launch a state-wide campaign named “Pol Khol” soon to expose the ruling Biju Janata Dal leaders associated with various scams and corruption cases.
BJP national general secretary and Odisha party in-charge Arun Singh who has returned after touring Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts, told reporters here the BJP would go to the people with the party’s charge-sheet against BJD leaders allegedly involved in various scams.
The BJP also vows to educate people during the campaign on the corruption and scams BJD leaders are allegedly associated with.
Singh said the BJD leaders were emptying the state exchequer on the pretext of Ama Gaon Ama Vikash programme launched by the Chief Minister.
He alleged that no tenders were invited although the work under the scheme is in progress and the people’s representatives are kept in the dark about the activities.
The state government has failed to provide jobs to the unemployed youths in its 19-year rule and now just before the elections it was trying to woo them by constituting the Biju Yuva Bahini and giving them lollipops, he said.
The BJD government was trying to use the youths as a link between the party and the people. It was a tactics the party employed before the general elections in 2009 and 2014.
In 2009, just before the elections, the government had appointed Gram Sathis and Krushak Sathis in 2014 to connect with the people, he alleged.
The BJP leader said, the government has failed to provide basic facilities to the people in the past 19 years. People have been suffering as there are no doctors, beds and medicines in hospitals and there is acute shortage of power.
Referring to the government’s decision to launch food security programme of its own for 34.44 lakh poor people left out by National Food Security Act, the BJP leader said it is a shame that the government could not provide food to its people after ruling the state for almost two decades.
Stating that the farmers are in a very bad condition, the BJP leader demanded interest-free loans and bonus to farmers for paddy procurement.
Stating that the BJP will achieve its target of winning 120-plus seats in Odisha in the next Assembly elections, Singh said the people of Odisha love the Prime Minister and are with the BJP.
Commenting on the proposed visit of Congress president Rahul Gandhi to Odisha, he said it would have little impact on the people as he has no association with the people at the grassroots.
