Bhubaneswar: Second seed Chinmay Pradhan of Orissa entered the final of the men’s singles event of the Gurukul AITA-OTA 50k Men’s Ranking tennis tournament at Medhasal here Thursday. He however, was unfortunate for not making it into the doubles final.
In singles event, Chinmay outplayed Rohit Rampuria of West Bengal 6-2, 6-4, setting up a summit clash tie against West Bengal’s Arghya Das who scraped past Shaikh Md Iftikhar of Assam 6-4, 7-5 in the other semifinal.
However in men’s doubles segment, Chinmay and his partner Santosh Mallik lost to West Bengal pair of Rohit and Aditya Roychowdhury 3-6, 2-6.
Jrinayan emerges best
Jrinayan Behera of DAV Public school emerged the best athlete of the athletic meet organised by Rovers Athletic Club at Peary Mohan Academy Ground in Cuttack Thursday.
Soumya Ranjan Moharana of SCB Medical Public School was adjudged the best athlete for boy’s while Madhusmita Sahoo of Stewart School got the best athlete award in the girl’s segment.
DAV Public School bagged Dr Bansidar Jethi Memorial running trophy for being champions while Sushil Chandra Rout memorial running trophy was awarded to SCB Medical Public School was runners-up in the boys’ section.
In the girls’ segment Govt High School, Kazibazar got Asim Kumar Bose memorial running champions trophy while Ravenshaw Collegiate School got the Suresh Chandra Bose memorial trophy after they finished runners-up.
Coaching course
The AIFF D License coaching course has already started in Cuttack and will continue till February 11, Football Association of Orissa (FAO) announced in a press release, Thursday.
In another development Gautam Das became the second from Orissa to successfully complete AFC Goalkeeping Level-I coaching course, which took place at Gwalior.
