Bhubaneswar: India Meteorological Department (IMD) here Saturday indicated that rainfall activity in the state would come down in the next two days.
With the weakening of the cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal, rainfall activity will come down in the state. There will be no heavy rainfall in the state especially on Sunday and Monday, said the Bhubaneswar Met Centre director HR Biswas.
He said, moderate to light rainfall, however, will occur in several parts of the state.
Heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj and Sambalpur after July 9, he suggested. The state has so far recorded a deficit rainfall of 8 per cent till Saturday, Biswas added.
The MeT department Saturday recorded the highest rainfall of 25 mm at Sambalpur followed by 21 mm at Jharsuguda and 12 mm each at Baripada and Hirakud, between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm.
Incessant rain since July 4 has already created water-logging situation in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Rainfall till Sunday morning may dampen the ongoing Rath Yatra festive fervour, the weathermen said.
