Bhubaneswar, June 2: In order to highlight achievements of Narendra Modi-led NDA government, the BJP Friday kick-started ‘Modi Fest’ at seven places across Orissa. The party has made arrangements for the mega programmes with money from Central PSUs.
The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) is holding a three-day Modi Fest (Making of Developed India Festival) in four phases between June 2 and June 25 in all 30 districts of Orissa. The first phase was started Friday at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Rajgangpur in Sundargarh, Paralakhemeundi (Gajapati) and Boudh.
Stalls at Exhibition grounds highlighted various schemes of the Centre such as Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Jandhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Fasal Beema Yojana, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana.
The last three days of Modi Fest will coincide with BJP president Amit Shah’s tour of Orissa from June 22 to June 25 to boost the party’s grassroots connect programme by visiting the booths.
State BJP president Basant Kumar Panda who inaugurated the event here in presence of senior leaders said, “The country is moving forward towards development and prosperity. PM Modi is working for every Indian and trying to help the underprivileged people.”
Congress and BJD strongly criticised the move of Modi government saying it would have adverse impact on the nation’s economy.
“Organising such mega events with money drawn from Central PSUs to gain political mileage will affect the economy. It is not a healthy practice,” said BJD spokesperson Amar Prasad Satpathy.
Congress leader Ganeswar Behera said, “To hide the ruling party’s failures, it is organising such events. It will boomerang on them.” PNN
