Puri: Miscreants looted money and ornaments worth lakhs of rupees from the hundi (donation box) of Siruli Mahabir temple at Siruli near Chandanpur in this district Wednesday night.
The priests Thursday morning found money and ornaments missing from the box, which was in a damaged condition.
They immediately informed both the Chandanpur police and temple office.
Local people expressed anguish over the police’s inaction in checking frequent theft from the temple hundi.
