Hatadihi (Keonjhar): At least 15 schoolchildren were injured, one of them critically, after a van carrying them to school overturned and fell into a pond near Jambhira in Hatadihi block of Keonjhar district early Wednesday morning.
A major mishap was averted as the students survived with injuries. However, one of them is critical, sources said.
According to sources, the incident occurred in the morning when the van carrying the schoolchildren was en route to the school near Jambira village. The driver of the vehicle lost control over the wheels following which the vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a pit.
Upon being informed, police and locals reached the spot and rescued the victims. The injured were admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
The police have begun a probe into the incident, sources said.
