Keonjhar: Four years after killing her daughter, a woman allegedly beheaded her 20-day-old newborn son at Juang Sahi in Namkani village under Bimala panchayat of Telkoi police limits in this district, Monday.
The accused mother was identified as Lakshmi Juang, 30, wife of Guru Juang of the village, Telkoi police station IIC Bijay Kumar Bihari said.
Police have arrested the killer mother and launched an investigation. The decapitated body of the baby was sent for post-mortem to Telkoi hospital.
The incident took place when no one was present at home. She had delivered the infant 20 days back. Lakshmi beheaded the baby boy Sonu with an axe, villagers said. Locals noticed the killing and informed the police. It is being suspected that the woman is suffering from psychiatric disorder.
“A probe has been launched into the gruesome murder. A scientific team was also pressed into service,” the IIC said.
Lakshmi had murdered her one-year-old daughter in 2018 by drowning her in a pond. She was then arrested and sent to jail. She was staying with her husband after being released on bail from jail two years back. She has now been arrested for killing her newborn son. Earlier, the woman had a son who is now studying in Class-1, he added.
