MPs, MLAs rush to greet Naveen

Bhubaneswar, Jan 1: Naveen Niwas Thursday turned into a beehive as several Cabinet ministers, MPs and MLAs, along with bureaucrats and party workers, made beeline to wish Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the New Year.
As the four-time Chief Minister came outdoors, visitors showered him with wishes. “I wish a very happy and prosperous new year for everyone,” Patnaik responded with a smile.
Health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, law minister Arun Kumar Sahu, finance minister Pradeep Kumar Amat, transport minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi, agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy and several other leaders and bureaucrats were among those who wished that the state witnesses more development in the new year.
“I wish that people of our state are blessed with prosperity and peace by the grace of Lord Jagannath,” said Nayak.
“The Chief Minister and the BJD government are committed to the development of the state. We will put in all our efforts for accelerating the development of the state and take Orissa’s progress to new heights. I wish the state finds a unique place in the world map,” said Sahu.
The Chief Minister also visited Puri in the company of Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha MP Prasanna Patsani and Puri MLA Maheswar Mohanty and sought the blessings of Lord Jagnnath. Patnaik also offered floral tributes at the Samadhi of his father and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik in Puri.
Congress and BJP presidents were also greeted by their party workers.
Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan, who was greeted warmly by party workers and supports, said, “In this new year, the Congress will work towards winning the trust of the people of the state.”
Bharatiya Janata Party state president KV Singhdeo said he wished that the New Year brings more happiness to the people of the state. “Now we are focusing on party president Amit Shah’s visit and will work to strengthen the party in the state to come to power in the coming days,” he said.
