Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Trade Fair 2016, which concluded Thursday, generated business worth Rs70 crore during the six day event, a top official of MSME department said.
“The trade fair generated business of Rs 70 crore. Footfalls during the event stood at 3.5 lakh with 25,000 business enquiries. Meantime, total sales during the event stood at Rs 5.5 crore,” Principal Secretary of MSME Department, Gagan Kumar Dhal said.
Citing rank of the state in various indices like ease of doing business, investment destinations among others, Dhal said there is ample opportunity for budding entrepreneurs in the state.
On the scope of MSME sector, Industries Minister Devi Prasad Mishra said the state government has framed various policies like MSME policy, food processing policy to boost growth of MSME sector. “For start-ups as well as downstream industries, the state government will soon come out with new policy statements,” Mishra said adding that talks were held with Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) for setting up of a steel park in the state. “In Gopalpur Special Economic Zone (SEZ), defence manufacturing units are coming up, which will facilitate growth of engineering and small scale industries,” he said.
