Bhubaneswar, Jan 9: A two-day national level workshop of Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) will be held February 15 with participation of industries, high-performing ITIs from five states and various other departments along with national and international skill qualification providers, an official source said.
At a recently-held meeting of the Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTET), certain decisions were taken including upgradation of about 1,396 ITIs through public private partnership mode. It was also decided to set up about 91 Adarsh ITIs across the state as directed by the Government of India.
Moreover, the ITIs will also be asked to look into ‘finishing skill training’ of the pass-outs at subsidised rates for improving employability and self-employment scope. For this purpose, the Finishing School at Cuttack will be operationalised by January-end to take up skill training activities of the pass-outs. The ITIs will further sign a memorandum of understanding with various local and public sector industries for skill-training and employability of the students.
Moreover, the ITIs will avail a web-enabled placement cell which will function through a unique ID system as implemented in developed countries for proper tracking of students. The portal will also have facilities for students to update their own profiles. The ITIs will also launch Apprenticeship Protsahan Yojna as directed by the Government of India.
