Naval band offers a musical treat

Bhubaneswar: As a part of Navy Day celebrations, the Naval Band left the audience spellbound with their wide-ranging musical performance at Utkal Mandap in city Saturday. 

The Naval Band concert proceeded with patriotic number ‘Vande Mataram’, composed and arranged by Lt Cdr Manoj Sebastian. The band also presented a wide array of musical genres including classical, light classical with military band instruments.

The second percussion presentation was ‘Colonel Bogey’, a popular march that was composed in 1914 by Lt FJ Rickets, a British army band master.

Hootenanny (folk festival for band) performance was hugely lauded. The presentation was a look at some of the America’s favorite folk song. A fifth of Beethoven, a disco instrumental music was an electrifying performance.

Much to the surprise of the audience, the Naval Band also performed Hindi number ‘Tum Hi Ho’ from the popular Hindi movie ‘Aashiqui 2’. The band also paid tribute to the veteran film actor Raj Kapoor. They featured medley of various evergreen songs cast by Raj Kapoor. It was arranged by Lt Cdr Manoj Sebastian. 

The auditorium echoed with cheers and applauses as the Naval Band struck the right note, infusing intrinsic feelings of joy, bravery and valour. (PNN)
