Dhenkanal: Day after the mysterious death of the 3-year-old boy from Dhenkanal, police Friday revealed that the neighbour of the deceased’s parents is the real culprit behind the crime.
The body of the missing 3-year-old boy from Khankira village under Nihalprasad police limits in Dhenkanal was found floating in a well of his village December 17. After recovering body, the police started an investigation in this regard and found that a woman who was the neigbour of the deceased boy is the murderer of the innocent minor boy.
The deceased has been identified as Kalia, son of Chandan Sahoo.
Sharing details of the investigation, Police informed that the woman has been arrested on charges of killing the three-year-old boy over an old family dispute, and she has confessed to the crime.
“The accused woman happens to be their neighbour. During interrogation, she confessed that she picked up the boy from outside his house, strangulated him to death and later dumped his body in the well. All this was an outcome of a family dispute. The woman has been arrested,” a senior police official said.
According to a source, the minor boy had gone missing while playing near his house Wednesday evening. Later, his family members searched for him at various places in the village. The whereabouts of the missing boy could not be known, despite a frantic search.
However, the body of the minor boy was found in an abandoned well in Khankira village early in the morning.
