Rourkela: At a time when people of this city were sunk in New Year celebrations relishing on mouth-watering delicacies, members of ARMY, an outfit working for the cause of helpless animals, preferred to spend their time with stray dogs.
The volunteers offered Biryani, an item mostly served on the platter of the rich, to stray dogs at various places of the city. They also added de-worming drugs in the food to help out the dogs fight worms, said Sangram Parida, chief of the organisation.
Pet dogs are always at advantage as they get tasty food from their masters but hardly anyone thinks of stray dogs, Parida said, adding, ARMY serves Biryani to stray dogs on the first day of every year.
The de-worming medicines are added to the item as per the advice of veterinary doctors, he said.
Besides, the organisation makes sure to feed de-worming medicines to stray dogs in every three months, it was learnt. PNN
