NHRC seeks probe report from CP

Cuttack: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the police commissioner to submit within eight weeks the probe report on the incident of bottle-hurling during a T 20 match between India and South Africa at Barabati Stadium October 5.
Rights activist Akhand had moved the NHRC alleging that the Orissa Cricket Association had been told by police not to allow water bottles into the stadium. However, the OCA did not heed this and allowed some water-bottle vendors into the stadium, resulting in the unfortunate incident.
Akhand urged the rights panel to direct the government to conduct an independent probe into the incident.
The Chief Minister had directed the home secretary to conduct an inquiry into the incident. However, the responsibility is yet to be fixed though the probe report had been submitted to the Chief Minister, he said and demanded that the probe report be made public.
