Baripada: The Central government has made use of Aadhaar cards mandatory for some schemes and services while its use has been compulsory for people seeking homeopathy treatment in tribal-dominated Mayurbhanj district, according to a report.
About 30 percent of people in the district have no Aadhaar cards. This has caused a lot of problems while seeking homeopathy treatment.
AYUH department is said to have made it mandatory in the district where healthcare is unavailable in most pockets.
There 44 homeopathy dispensaries across the district while 21 doctors work against the requirement of 44. The posts of 300 homeopathic assistants are lying vacant.
It was learnt that people are averse to going to homeopathy dispensaries to seek treatment after Aadhaar use was applied.
The office of the chief district homeopathy medical officer has issued a letter (710, dated 13 October, 2017) to all homeopathy dispensaries with a directive to seek Aadhaar cards of patients for providing service.
Chief district homeopathy medical officer Dr Dillip Kumar Behera said the AYUSH department of the Central government has issued this directive. “All people do not have Aadhaar cards. This is the problem,” he assured.
Behera also said that 12 more doctors will be appointed to fill up the vacancies in coming days. PNN
