New Delhi: Bargarh MP Prabhas Singh (BJD) Wednesday sought information from the Centre regarding setting up of a biotechnology park in his constituency.
In an unstarred question to Ministry of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences in the Lok Sabha, Prabhas asked for the details of biotechnology parks and science and technology parks operating in the country.
“Whether Odisha government has sent any proposal to establish such parks in Bargarh district and steps taken by the government to establish such parks in near future,” Prabhas asked.
However, Union Minister of Science and Technology Harsh Vardhan denied of receiving any proposal to establish biotechnology Park in Bargarh district.
The minister further said that the Department of Bio Technology has announced ‘National Biotechnology Parks Scheme’ to support biotechnology parks in collaboration with the state government and industries.
“This is to encourage state governments to come forward to scale up activities related to biotechnology sector which in long run will help improve the socioeconomic development of the region,” said Harsh Vardhan.
