Bhawanipatna: A tragic incident was reported from Junagarh town in Kalahandi district, where a pregnant woman lost her life after a tree fell on her house Saturday afternoon.
The deceased, identified as 26-year-old Kaushalya Behera from Lakshmisagar locality, was inside her house when a massive palm tree collapsed due to the storm.
She was trapped under the fallen tree and succumbed to her injuries. However, her son and other family members narrowly escaped. Notably, a severe Nor’wester storm struck various parts of Kalahandi district Saturday afternoon, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall.
The high-velocity winds uprooted several large trees in multiple locations. The storm also led to prolonged power outages in the affected areas.
