Choudwar: A 21-year-old man was arrested late Monday on charges of bike-lifting.
Choudwar police said they arrested Laxmidhar Nayak alias Jitu, a resident of Agamuda village under Rupsa police limits of Balasore, for lifting motorcycles.
“A Honda Unicorn and a Hero Glamour have been recovered from him. Jitu has several bike-lifting cases against him with the police stations here,” Choudwar inspector in-charge (IIC) Jitendra Nath Sethy said, adding a case (147/18) has been registered.
The police crackdown came when Jitu was planning to dispose a stolen motorcycle.
“Based on specific inputs, we zeroed in on the accused when he was looking for prospective buyers in the Budhabalanga area of Ward 12 here,” Choudwar assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Prahallad Parida said.
