Kendrapara: A notorious criminal was injured in an encounter with police at Deshapur near Derabish in Kendrapara district Sunday morning.
He has been identified as Santosh Mallick (36), an accused in more than 60 cases including murder and loot.
According to reports, the police tried to nab Mallick while he was planning to execute a theft in Deshapur. Mallick opened fire at the cops but he sustained bullet injuries on his right leg in retaliatory firing by police.
He was admitted to the Kendrapara District Hospital. The police have seized a motorcycle and pistol from his possession.
