Bhubaneswar, May 7: With the launch of a Closed User Group (CUG) Wednesday, Commissionerate Police have taken another step towards providing citizens with accessible services.
CUG is a closed communication platform wherein IICs (inspectors in-charge) of each police station and zonal ACPs of the twin cities will have a unique mobile phone number attached to their respective police stations and designations. The system would also function as a news-sharing platform for the police while giving direct access to citizens to their respective officials.
Thus, even when there is a reshuffle of officials at the police station and the zonal level, the number will stay with the particular designation and not the official.
Citizens can now also contact their respective inspectors through WhatsApp. If they come across any emergency such as an accident, they can send spot pictures to the respective police stations.
“If the inspector or ACP is busy, calls must be picked up by their subordinates and answered,” said police commissioner RP Sharma.
A total of 63 officers from twin cities were given new SIM cards. DCPs of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack additional CP and CP also began using the new SIM cards.
