Odia actor threatened over post on J&K

Bhubaneswar: Odia actor Sabyasachi Mishra Tuesday sought intervention of the Police Commissionerate over the alleged threats which he had received on social media platforms for posting a message regarding abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sabyasachi said that after posting the message on his Instagram account he started receiving threats. He had welcomed the Centre’s decision to do away with Article 370 and reorganise Jammu and Kashmir.

Sabyasachi posted, “Kashmir, Welcome Back to India. Today, India is complete. No politics, no violence please. Extremists can leave the valley, time for peace, education and development.”

Some of the comments are very obscene and vulgar. Many fans of the star had supported the actor in the post.

“When the number of such comments increased, I started to respond. So far, through around 35 fake profiles, the miscreants are sending threat messages like – Tujhe Patta Nahi Tu Kisse Panga Le Raha Hai. We will hack your ID,” the actor alleged.

Sabysachi said as per the advice of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar, he had reported the matter to Instagram.

“I am hurt and there is fear as well. I think such IDs have been created only to disturb communal harmony in India and brainwash youngsters,” the actor added.

Meanwhile, the Centre’s decision to scrap Article 370 as well as Article 35A evoked mixed response among the public and political leaders.

Union Minister and senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for taking the bold step saying that they have corrected a historic wrong.

“Resolve, patience, courage and relentless pursuit of goals make a leader. The dream which started at Lal Chowk in 1992 led to the incredible journey of a leader who made history today by taking this step to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh,” Pradhan tweeted.

Stating that the Centre took the decision without understanding its ramifications, Congress Legislature Party Leader Narasingha Mishra said that local people and Opposition leaders were not taken into confidence before the decision and that senior leaders of J&K have been kept under house arrest. This is not good for democracy, he stated.

Puri Govardhan Peeth Shankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati has also expressed happiness at the decision terming it a historic move.

In his media reactions, the Puri seer stated, “Today I’m extremely pleased because I was waiting for it for years. By God’s grace, it is a very strong blow to the diplomatic manipulations of the British.”

“All political leaders, irrespective of party affiliations, should stand for the nation and not for their parties, and should try wholeheartedly to build Bharat (India) so that it proves to be a blessing to the world. It was initially an ideal for the whole world,” the seer said.

The City people also supported the decision saying India is one from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and that there is no room for two Nishans (flag), two Pradhans (Government) and two Vidhans (constitution) in our republic. Article 370 was a privilege extended to Kashmir, but it was not legitimate. It also led to terrorism, a man said.

“Only time will reveal the full repercussions of this decision. It is not about victory or defeating anyone. The time is ripe to consolidate and build on what we have lost in these years of extremism in the valley,” a lawyer said.

“Article 370 was a temporary provision and had become obsolete. I believe that this will solve the long-standing dispute of Kashmir and bring peace to the land,” a local resident said.
