Sundargada: The Delhi Odia Students Association (DOSA) organised a Nuakhai celebration at the Gandhi Bha van Hall on the North Campus of Delhi University Tuesday, showcasing Odisha’s rich culture, history and contemporary thoughts.
Nuakhai is traditionally observed by seeking the blessings of elders before partaking in the newly harvested rice, known as Nabanna.
Pratap Chandra Behera of the Department of Social Work, Delhi University, was present at the event.
The students sought his blessings before partaking in the Nabanna. The celebration featured a variety of cultural performances, including Odissi, Kathak and Sambalpuri folk dances, highlighting Odisha’s diverse cultural traditions.
The event concluded with a community feast.
The celebration provided an opportunity for Odia students in Delhi to come together and observe the traditional harvest festival while showcasing the cultural heritage of Odisha.
