Bhubaneswar: Under the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA), Odisha has positioned itself in the second rank, alongside the highest-screening state, Madhya Pradesh (MP), with a total of 1,04,72,912 women availing free health checkups and screenings during the fortnight-long campaign (September 17 to October 2), according to the national data portal.
The campaign aims to empower families through women’s health and has set benchmarks in participation, screening, and community engagement.
Odisha’s achievements stand alongside high-performing states like MP, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan.
While MP leads in total camps and screenings, Odisha’s strengths lie in its gender-sensitive outreach and adolescent health initiatives.
The state has recorded significant success in cancer screenings and menstrual hygiene counselling, placing it ahead of several larger states.
Available data showed that more than 71,132 intensive healthcare and awareness activities were conducted in the state.
These camps were organised at Arogya Mandirs, primary health centres (PHCs), and community health centres (CHCs) across rural and urban areas.
Odisha ranked fourth nationally in the number of camps conducted. Major tests included 12 lakh hypertension screenings, 12.2 lakh diabetes screenings, 3.2 lakh oral cancer screenings, 3.3 lakh breast cancer screenings, and 40,000 cervical cancer screenings.
Additionally, counselling on menstrual hygiene was provided to 6.5 lakh adolescent girls.
The campaign also recorded the collection of 32,865 blood units through 523 voluntary blood donation camps held across districts.
Odisha’s women-centric approach resulted in the state recording the second-highest female footfall nationally.
Senior health officials credited Odisha’s success to decentralised planning, district-level ownership of the campaign, adoption of digital tools for camp tracking and data capture, and active participation of ASHA workers and self-help groups.
