Bhubaneswar: The Budget session of Odisha Assembly began Monday with Governor Raghubar Das addressing the House.

In his address to the House, the Governor highlighted positive impacts of the Puri Heritage Corridor project, emphasising its role in improving facilities for devotees and enhancing security measures for the Srimandir.

The Governor also praised the state government’s efforts in maintaining stable law and order, noting a significant decrease in left-wing extremism with 42 Maoists killed, 145 arrested, and 63 surrendering before law enforcement agencies. He also mentioned the government’s focus on tourism, allocating funds for the development of 15 tourist sites and infrastructure at 136 locations.

Additionally, the Governor acknowledged initiatives like ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ and the ‘KALIA’ scheme, providing financial aid to farmers for agricultural development and poverty reduction. He further mentioned about a corpus fund for Odisha State Co-Operative Marketing Federation Ltd (MARKFED) to safeguard farmers’ interests.
