Gania: Police here Saturday arrested and forwarded to court four dacoits for looting cash from a courier van driver.
he arrested were identified as Amiya Moharana, 26, Babuni Barik, 27, Pramod Kumar Sahu, 28, and Rakesh Kumar Parida, 25, all from Madhyakhanda village under Daspalla police limits in Nayagarh district.
Gania police said five dacoits followed a courier van coming from Daspalla to Gania in suspect of Ganja being transported in the van in their Hyundai Verna car. They broke the windshield of the courier van and made away with Rs2,000 from the van driver near Gholahandi village.
A police team led by IIC, Gania PS Binay Ranjan Parida conducted a raid at Madhyakhand village Saturday and arrested these four accused.
Police also seized the Hyundai Verna car, a TATA Indigo car, four mobile phones, Rs 4,700 in cash, a billhook, two iron and steel rods from their possession. Police said all the accused are historysheeters and the other accused will be nabbed soon.
