Odisha: IMD issues Orange Warning for several districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional center of IMD in Bhubaneswar Friday issued an Orange Warning for several districts of Odisha over the next 24 hours.

From 8.30 AM of March 18 to 8.30 AM of March 19: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind of speed reaching 40-50 kmph and hailstorms are very likely to occur at one or two places over several districts of Odisha.

The IMD has issued an Orange Warning — which advises the public to remain prepared – for Keonjhar, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Khurda and Puri districts. Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Jajpur, informed the weather agency.

In the same time frame, the weather department has issued Yellow Warning for several districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada. Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Up until 8.30 AM Saturday, the IMD has issued Yellow Warning (Be Updated) for several districts of Odisha. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind of speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore. Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha. Hailstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, and Kalahandi.

In the past 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 35.7-degree celsius was recorded at Malkangiri and the lowest minimum temperature of 16.8-degree celcius was recorded at Jagatsinghpur in the plains of Odisha.

In Bhubaneswar, IMD has forecasted that rain or thundershower would occur towards the evening/night of Friday. Maximum and Minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 31-degree celsius and 22-degree celsius respectively.
