Baripada: A youth was allegedly beaten to death over suspicion of extramarital affair in Kenduchatia village of Bhaliadiha panchayat under Betnoti police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, a source said Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sunaram Tudu (25), who was a resident of Gandigodha village of Sureidihi panchayat in Mayurbhanj district.
According to the source, Tudu was tied up to a tree and was allegedly beaten to death by Jasaya Tudu and his son Bapun over suspected affair with Jasaya’s wife.
While the whole village was celebrating ‘Jahira Puja’ Monday, Jasaya found Sunaram and his wife missing from the gathering, the source said.
After searching for the duo, Jasaya caught his wife with Sunaram in a compromising position at an isolated place. Later, Jasaya along with his son tied Sunaram up and beat him up to death, the source added.
Jasaya was detained by police and a probe is underway.
