Odisha registers 262 new Covid-19 cases; 42 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 262 new Covid-19 cases, of which 42 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,45,471. Active caseload in the state now stands at 2,741.

Odisha also reported two (02) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,377 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Sunday morning. The state had reported two (02) Covid-19 fatalities Saturday.

Dhenkanal and Jagatsinghpur districts reported one (01) death each.

Out of the 262 new infections, 153 were reported from quarantine centres while 109 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 247 cases of coronavirus infections Saturday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 132 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 21 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (12), Bargarh (1), Bhadrak (5), Deogarh (3), Dhenkanal (5), Ganjam (2), Jagatsinghpur (3), Jajpur (6), Jharsuguda (2), Kendrapara (8), Koraput (1), Malkangiri (1), Mayurbhanj (5), Nayagarh (2), Puri (1), Rayagada (1), Sambalpur (14) and Sundargarh (6).

The State Pool reported 31 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 2,28,39,154 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 309.
