Odisha registers 387 new Covid-19 cases; 75 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 387 new Covid-19 cases, of which 75 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,44,428. Active caseload in the state now stands at 2,980.

Odisha also reported four (04) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,368 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Wednesday morning. The state had reported three (03) Covid-19 fatalities Tuesday.

Khurda reported highest deaths (three), followed by Angul (one).

Out of the 387 new infections, 223 were reported from quarantine centres while 164 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 296 cases of coronavirus infections Tuesday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 195 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 33 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Angul (2), Balasore (9), Bargarh (2), Bhadrak (1), Bolangir (2), Deogarh (6), Dhenkanal (5), Gajapati (7), Ganjam (3), Jagatsinghpur (10), Jajpur (10), Jharsuguda (1), Kandhamal (1), Kendrapara (6), Keonjhar (4), Mayurbhanj (2), Nabarangpur (1), Nayagarh (6), Puri (12), Rayagada (1), Sambalpur (18), Subarnapur (1) and Sundargarh (6).

The State Pool reported 43 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 2,25,88,700 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 461.
