Odisha registers 539 new Covid-19 cases; 77 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 539 new Covid-19 cases, of which 77 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,23,133. Active caseload in the state now stands at 5,829.

Odisha also reported six (06) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,163 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Friday morning. The state had reported seven (07) Covid-19 fatalities Thursday.

Cuttack and Sundargarh districts reported three (03) deaths each.

Out of the 539 new infections, 316 were reported from quarantine centres while 223 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 644 cases of coronavirus infections Thursday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 254 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 48 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Jagatsinghpur (31), Balasore (23), Jajpur (17), Mayurbhanj (13), Bhadrak, Sambalpur and Puri (12 each), Kendrapara (10), Angul (six), Nayagarh, Subarnapur and Sundargarh (five each), Deogarh, Dhenkanal and Jharsuguda (four each), Koraput (three), Bargarh, Keonjhar, Malkangiri and Rayagada (two each) and Ganjam, Kalahandi and Kandhamal (one each).

The State Pool reported 60 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 1,95,86,663 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 417.
