Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 258 new covid 19 positive cases during the last 24 hours, indicating a rise in the infection in the past few days.
Odisha Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra said out of 6,279 samples tested in the last 24 hours 258 were found positive. With the new cases, the total number of active cases in the state went up to 1,186.
He said Covid has claimed two lives during the fresh outbreak of the infection in the state so far.
Official sources here said a 65-year-old woman of Jharsuguda who was also suffering from acute kidney diseases died Thursday. Earlier April 5 last a man from Sundargarh also died after suffering from the disease.
Mishra said the number of infections will decline after rising for a few more days.
He said the state government has adequate infrastructure like beds in hospitals, oxygen and medicine to counter the covid 19 cases and advised people to get tested and start treatment and isolate themselves if they develop Covid-19 symptoms.
