Bhubaneswar: Odisha Thursday registered its highest single-day spike of 1,699 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total tally in the state to 40,717.
Ten more deaths across the state took the death toll to 235.
Out of the 1,699 new cases, 1,073 were reported from quarantine centres while 626 are local contacts,
District wise breakdown: Angul reported 17 new cases, Balasore 17, Bargarh 81, Bhadrak 66, Balangir 21, Cuttack 105, Dhenkanal 27, Gajapati 59, Ganjam 268, Jagatsinghpur 16, Jajpur 41, Jharsuguda 10, Kalahandi 30, Kandhamal 74, Kendrapada 27, Keonjhar 56, Khurda 220, Koraput 41, Malkangiri 72, Mayurbhanj 24, Nabarangpur 16, Nayagarh 25, Nuapada 3, Puri 67, Rayagada 19, Sambalpur 101, Sonepur 10 and Sundargarh 178.
The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 14,700.
