Bhubaneswar: Grozip, a startup from Odisha, has been selected to participant in the eFounders Fellowship, a programme jointly organized by the Alibaba Business School and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in support of sustainable development. The event will offer startups an opportunity to be mentored by Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba, and the company’s leadership team.
The meet aims at identifying and selecting high-potential entrepreneurs/startups who can become industry champions and builders of a new e-commerce ecosystem in their respective countries. The meet will also empower participants to not only apply acquired knowledge, but also mobilise and inspire others to embrace the new economic paradigm and create a local community of e-commerce champions who can support one another moving forward.
The eFounders Fellowship is open to experienced young entrepreneurs who speak English, are interested in online commerce and can contribute to future development. On completion of the course, participants are expected to make a commitment to share the knowledge gained with their communities. “The event will be presided over by Jack Ma himself.”
Earlier, the group was shortlisted to spend an hour with Narendra Modi under the Startup India Programme in July. Narendra Modi’s interaction with these ‘champions of change’ is aimed at forging a partnership between the government and young entrepreneurs from across key sectors of the economy to drive growth.
Ananda Kumar Mishra, founder of Grozip, said they aim to build long-term economic growth and sustainable livelihood for people in tier 2/3/4 cities of India. “We aim to train unemployed youth as “Grozippers” to fulfill a scalable demand supply chain and plan to bridge the gap between the rural and urban sectors, in turn, acting as a helping hand in making India digital.”
