Paralakhemundi: Students and residents of Badapur village under R Udayagiri block in Gajapati district have to swim across Ghodahada river to attend school and work, a source said Sunday.

According to the source, the village lacks bridge connectivity. Every year during the rainy season, residents including the students of the village cross the river risking their lives.

One of the locals alleged that they have repeatedly brought this concern before the administration and requested to build a bridge. However, their ordeal fell on deaf ears.

R Udayagiri BDO Lariman Kharsel stated that he is aware of the issue and has repeatedly informed the higher authorities. However, no importance is being given to it, he added.

Kharsel further said that he will inform the Collector about the issue soon.
