Bhubaneswar: Odisha has successfully completed the first phase of the Census exercise, the House Listing Operation and Housing Census, with the process being carried out smoothly across the state. The progress of the ongoing Census activities was reviewed Thursday by Revenue and Disaster Management Department Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Padhee.
During the review meeting, Director of Census Operations (DCO) Nikhil Pawan Kalyan informed the Padhee about the successful completion of the first phase of the Census. Padhee commended the dedicated efforts of Census functionaries, District Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, Enumerators and Supervisors for ensuring the smooth conduct of the large-scale exercise across Odisha.
He noted that the contribution of field-level personnel remains vital for the successful implementation of a nationwide programme of this magnitude. The meeting also reviewed preparations, the action plan and the roadmap for the next phase of the Census — Population Enumeration.
Emphasising the importance of advance planning, Padhee directed officials to complete all preparatory activities on time to ensure the successful conduct of the upcoming phase.
The House Listing Operation and Housing Census, constituting the first phase of the Census in Odisha, was conducted over 30 days from April 16 to May 15, 2026. Additionally, the Self-Enumeration programme was carried out from April 1 to April 15, 2026.
