Odisha: Teacher dead, over 20 students injured as bus overturns at Nabarangpur’s Chandahandi ghat

Nabarangpur: A teacher died and over 20 students were injured after a bus in which they were travelling overturned at Chandahandi ghat in Nabarangpur district Wednesday, said a source.

The deceased has been identified as Prabhas Jena, a Physical Education Teacher (PET) of Swami Vivekanand Bidya Mandir, Umekote.

According to the source, the private bus — carrying students and teachers of the school to a district-level sports competition– overturned while the driver was negotiating a sharp turn on the Chandahandi ghat.

Following the accident, locals rushed the victims to Jharigaon Community Health Centre. Injured students are undergoing treatment.
