It can be mentioned here that earlier, students up to Class-VIII were entitled to free uniforms so far.

According to the source, students of Class-X and IX will be provided with two pairs of uniform, one pair of shoes and two pairs of socks, one T-shirt and a set of track pants.

However, there has been a slight change in the dress code. While boys will now wear checkered white shirt and hunter green pants, girls will wear white salwar, green jacket and kurta.

The new uniforms will have the logo ‘Ame Gadhibu Nua Odisha’ (We will build new Odisha).

All students will wear T-shirts and track pants with a cap Saturdays, the source said, adding that both the School and Mass Education and Mission Shakti departments have issued letters in this regard.

In this regard, the Directorate of Secondary Education has issued a set of guidelines for the procurement and distribution of uniforms.

Guidelines:

1) Uniform for ‘House System’: For schools with fewer than 100 students, two houses will be formed, and any two T-Shirt colours can be chosen out of four. For schools with more than 100 students, four houses will be constituted using T-shirts of all four colours.

2) It should be assured that the products are procured and distributed by July 15, 2023.

3) The acquisition and distribution must be completed within the timeframe. All of these items will be made to fit each student’s body measurements.

4) The distribution will take place in the presence of eminent persons of the locality and photographs of the uniform distribution will be retained for documentation.

Funds for the garments, worth Rs 1,000 per set, will be provided from the state plan, the official said, adding that black shoes and white socks will be made compulsory for students.
