Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Friday issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha.
Upto 8.30 AM of June 10: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface windspeed reaching 40-50kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal districts. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Rayagada and Koraput districts. IMD further said that heatwave condition is likely to prevail at one or two places over Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts.
In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nabarangapur, Koraput and Malkangiri. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of the state.
From 8.30 AM of June 10 to 8.30 AM of June 11: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Nabarangapur, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada districts. The weather agency forecasted no large change in maximum temperature (day) at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next four to five days. Maximum temperature is very likely to be above normal by 3-5 degree Celsius at a few places over the districts of the state. Consequently, hot and discomfort weather is likely during the next four days. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside from 11 am to 3 pm.
In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 39 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively.
In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 44.6 degree Celsius was recorded at Sambalpur and Subarnapur while the lowest minimum temperature of 23.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Malkangiri, the bulletin informed.
