BHUBANESWAR: Smruti Bhubaneswar organised the 14th edition of ‘Odissi and Laghu Sangeet Samaroh 2019’, a 2-day musical programme at Soochna Bhawan here Wednesday.
Rama Krushna Sahoo, Additional Secretary, Odia language, literature and culture department, graced the occasion as the guest of honor. Utpala Pati, additional director, Odisha Tourism and Dhirendra Mallick of Satbadira Kalakar inaugurated the event.
Eminent Behela player and Researcher Aartratrana Satpathy was feted with Bhubaneswar Mishra Smruti Sanman. Pala singer Madan Mohan Jena and art connoisseur Sashi Bhusan Swain were also feted at the event.
The evening was kick started with Kishorachandra’s Champu ‘Madhu re Manda Manda hoi Gandha Bahi Prasarila’ sung in Tripati Taala by Odissi classical singer Himanshu Sekhar Swain and Matru Prasad Dash. Next in line was ‘Ja Re Ja Sakhi Brajaraj Nagare Jaa’, which was penned by Loknath Patnaik and sung by the duo.
The event witnessed a full capacity crowd who were mesmerised by the young duo’s music. The duo was accompanied by Agnimitra Behera, Srinivas Satpathy and Baivabh Das on musical instruments. The concluding programme of the evening was Guru Keshab Chandra Rout’s Odissi recital.
