Old collectorate building in Boudh to be turned into museum

Boudh: The old collectorate building in Boudh is to get a facelift and turned into a museum, the process of which has already begun. This was informed by administrative officials Friday.

The museum will showcase ancient artifacts, heritages, art and culture of Boudh through different objects of historical importance. Visitors and tourists will also gain knowledge on the glorious past of the district.

Boudh administration has appealed local denizens to contribute objects of olden times if they possess any.

The district occupies a special place in the history of ancient Odisha as a Gadjat area. The old collectorate building which was built in 1921 is going to complete 100 years in January.

Notably, the district has Gandharadi-Charisambhu temple built by the erstwhile Bhanja rulers which dates back to the seventh century AD. It also has the famous Rameswar temple built by rulers of the Som dynasty during ninth century AD.

Boudh got its independent status as a district in January 1, 1994.
