Khandapara: A person was killed while another sustained grievous injuries in a road mishap that took place at Basantapur village near Khandapara-Bhapur main road in Nayagarh district Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Prasant Kumar Nayak (19) and the injured has been identified as Rajesh Kumar Nayak (18) of Badasahara panchayat under Fatehgarh police limits of Nayagarh district.
According to a police official, the incident took place on Khandapara-Bhapur works department road when Prasant and Rajesh were speeding on a motorcycle. The rider lost control at a hump and collided with a tree, killing Prasant on the spot. Locals rescued Rajesh and sent him to Bhubaneswar in a 108 ambulance for treatment.
On being informed, Fatehgarh police reached the spot and recovered the body. They have sent it to Khandapara community health center for postmortem. Besides, the cops have seized the motorcycle; have lodged a case of unnatural death, and investigating further into the incident.
