Bhadrak: One died and two others — including a minor — have been rendered critically ill after consuming a poisonous drink by mistake in Bhadrak district.
The incident occurred in Kharida Binayakpur village under Basudevpur block of this district Friday morning. The trio belonged to a single family.
According to reports, they drank the water that had ‘Kuchilakhai’ fruits soaked in it.
Family sources said, the ‘Kuchilakhai’ fruits soaked water had been kept at home to be used as an herbal cure for skin diseases. The trio mistook it as tea and consumed it leading to the incident.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Jatin Mallick. Critically ill Agasti (30) and Maheswar (3) were first admitted to Basudevpur government hospital from where Agasti was shifted to Bhadrak district headquarters hospital (DHH) as his condition deteriorated.
A pall of gloom descended over the village after news broke.
