Sundargarh: A woman was killed and five sustained critical injuries when a truck hit a Bolero near Gadaposh Chhak on the Biju Expressway under Kutra police limits here Saturday evening.
The incident occurred when the woman was standing at the road divider to cross the road. When the truck hit the Bolero vehicle, it lost its control and rammed into the divider, killing the woman. The vehicle turned turtle, causing injuries to all five passengers who were inside the Bolero.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, sources said.
The deceased was identified as Colestica Sorong of a nearby village. However, the identities of the injured are yet to be ascertained.
Soon after the incident, locals gathered on the spot and blocked the road. They demanded compensation for the kin of the deceased.
After getting information, Kutra police reached the spot and have been trying to pacify the agitators till the filing of this report.
