Bhubaneswar: Following Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s directive, two departments of state government have made their website and social media feeds copyright free.
The websites and social media accounts of Information & Public Relations (I&PR) and ST and SC Development have been made copyright free, said I&PR secretary Surendra Kumar said this here Monday. Every year, January 1 is observed as the Public Domain Day with the aim of providing free access to information to general public, he said, adding, the websites and social media feeds such as Facebook and Twitter accounts of the two departments, are now licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International.
This means, henceforth, all the content on the websites and social media accounts of two departments are now free for public usage. This includes photographs, videos and government publications, Kumar pointed out.
This is in continuation with state government’s 3Ts principles and a request for same has been sent to wikimedia.org in this regard, he added.
The Chief Minister had already shown the way in this regard by declaring his own social media handles as well as CMO handles copyright free in September 2017.
